Your website and your business's own pages on social networks and Google Business Profile belong together. Linking them both ways helps Google and AI assistants recognise them as one business, and helps customers find you where they already spend time.
Arva SEO looks for profiles on nine networks: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads and Google Business Profile.
How profiles are found
- From your website, at every audit. The links on your pages to your profiles (usually in the footer or on the contact page), and the profiles in your home page's
sameAsmarkup. Share buttons, posts and team members' personal LinkedIn profiles aren't counted. - From a search for your business's name, once. After a website's first audit, Arva SEO searches Google for the business's name on each network your website doesn't link to yet. A result is suggested only when it clearly belongs to you: it mentions your website, or its name and handle match your business, or it shows your phone number. Arva SEO doesn't open the networks' pages itself.
- From you. Add any profile by pasting its address.
Suggestions never count as yours until you say so. If nothing clearly matches, nothing is suggested.
Check your profiles
Open the website, then Website settings, then Social profiles. For each suggestion, choose Yes, it's ours or Not ours. Use Add a profile for any that are missing, and Remove for one that isn't yours or that you no longer use.
What the audit checks
The Social profiles checks in the audit are opportunities: they help, but they aren't a ranking factor on their own.
- No links to the business's social profiles. No page links to a profile on any of the nine networks.
- Social profiles missing from the home page's markup. Your pages link to a profile that isn't in the home page's
sameAs. - Profiles in the markup that no page links to.
sameAslists a profile visitors can't see a link to. - Your social profiles aren't linked from the website. A profile you added or confirmed has no link on the website.
- More than one profile on the same network. Two Facebook pages or Instagram accounts, for example.
Add the markup to your home page
Social profiles shows the markup for your home page, already filled in with your business's name, website and confirmed profiles. Copy it into your home page's <head>, or enter the same profile addresses in your SEO plugin's social profile settings (Yoast SEO and Rank Math both have them). Run the audit again to check.
The one-time name search uses a little of your workspace's monthly data budget, like other Google searches in Arva SEO. It runs on every plan.
