A workspace holds your websites and their work. Transferring ownership changes who owns that same workspace. It does not move its websites into a different workspace, merge two sign-ins, combine allowances or transfer private conversations between accounts.
If you are consolidating old and new accounts
Keep the workspace that contains the websites, audits and work you need. Do not delete it or recreate its websites just to change the login.
The Terms of Service allow one Free workspace per person and one account per email inbox. Additional Free accounts must not be used to get around the plan’s limits. If both accounts already own Free workspaces, decide which workspace you want to keep and contact support before transferring or deleting anything with data. A shared network alone does not establish that accounts belong to the same person.
If you only need to use a different email for the existing account, request a secure sign-in email change. Owners contact support to begin that process; changing the address is not a self-service profile edit. Tell support if the new address is already registered to another account. Do not delete the account with your work to free up an address.
Check team access first
The receiving account must be an accepted Admin member of the workspace before it can become the owner. A client portal login or a specialist with website access is not enough.
Invitations and accepted admins use internal team seats. The Free plan includes one seat, normally its owner, so it may not let you add a second account for a self-service transfer. If the invitation is blocked by the seat allowance, stop and contact support to review consolidation. You do not need to buy a plan simply to ask us to review an old and new account. Do not create another Free account to work around the limit.
Transfer the workspace when an Admin is available
- Sign in to the previous account that currently owns the workspace, and select that workspace.
- Open People & access. If the receiving account is not a member, use Other team roles to invite it as Admin, within your team-seat allowance. If it is already a member, the owner can change its role to Admin.
- Sign in to the receiving account and accept the invitation. An unaccepted invitation does not make the account eligible for ownership.
- Sign back in to the current owner account. Open Settings → General → Transfer ownership and choose Transfer….
- Select the receiving Admin under New owner. Enter the current owner account’s password and review any billing notice. If you cannot confirm with a password, contact support; never send us your password.
- Confirm Transfer ownership only after checking the account and workspace. This can only be undone by the new owner. The previous owner becomes an Admin and retains access until removed or until it leaves.
- Sign in to the receiving account and confirm the workspace, websites and saved work are available before retiring the old account.
Billing and connected accounts
A paid subscription stays in the name of the person who pays for it. Ownership transfer does not move the card or subscription to the receiving account. The new owner can lower or cancel a plan paid by someone else, but cannot raise it. Review Plan & billing and contact support before changing billing or deleting the previous account.
Review Connections and any personal AI or Google connections under the receiving account. Documents already exported to Google Docs remain in the Google account where they were created; this workspace transfer does not transfer those files’ ownership.
After verifying access, the new owner can remove the previous account from People & access, or the previous account can leave the workspace. Review any other workspaces and billing obligations before considering account deletion. Account deletion is not part of the ownership transfer.
If you need help
Contact support with the old account email, the receiving account email, the workspace name and which account you want to keep. Support will review the request and verify access before any change. Do not send passwords, API keys, one-time codes or other credentials. No transfer or account merge happens just because you send the request.
